Multi-sensor Information Processing using Prediction Market-based Belief Aggregation
نویسندگان
چکیده
We consider the problem of information fusion frommultiple sensors of different types with the objective of improving the confidence of inference tasks, such as object classification, performed from the data collected by the sensors. We propose a novel technique based on distributed belief aggregation using a multiagent prediction market to solve this information fusion problem. To monitor the improvement in the confidence of the object classification as well as to disincentivize agents from misreporting information, we have introduced a market maker that rewards the agents instantaneously as well as at the end of the inference task, based on the quality of the submitted reports. We have implemented the market maker’s reward calculation in the form of a scoring rule and have shown analytically that it incentivizes truthful revelation or accurate reporting by each agent. We have experimentally verified our technique for multi-sensor information fusion for an automated landmine detection scenario. Our experimental results show that, for identical data distributions and settings, using our information aggregation technique increases the accuracy of object classification favorably as compared to two other commonly used techniques for information fusion for landmine detection.

Prediction Market-Based Information Aggregation for Multi-sensor Information Processing
Prediction markets have been shown to be a useful tool in forecasting the outcome of future events by aggregating public opinion about the event’s outcome. We consider an analogous problem of information fusion from multiple sensors of different types with the objective of improving the confidence of inference tasks, such as object classification. We develop a multi-agent prediction market-base...
متن کاملMultirobot autonomous landmine detection using distributed multisensor information aggregation
We consider the problem of distributed sensor information fusion by multiple autonomous robots within the context of landmine detection. We assume that different landmines can be composed of different types of material and robots are equipped with different types of sensors, while each robot has only one type of landmine detection sensor on it. We introduce a novel technique that uses a market-...

متن کاملAggregation of Information and Beliefs in Prediction Markets∗
We propose a simple model of prediction markets in which traders with heterogeneous prior beliefs and private information are allowed to risk a limited amount of money. For any given information realization, the equilibrium price can be interpreted as a posterior belief given a representative market prior belief. However, across information realizations, we show that this market prior belief is...
متن کاملIntelligent Evidence-Based Management for Data Collection and Decision-Making Using Algorithmic Randomness and Active Learning
We describe here a comprehensive framework for intelligent information management (IIM) of data collection and decision-making actions for reliable and robust event processing and recognition. This is driven by algorithmic information theory (AIT), in general, and algorithmic randomness and Kolmogorov complexity (KC), in particular. The processing and recognition tasks addressed include data di...
